The huge potential for oil palm land has made Indonesia a major force in Crude Palm Oil (CPO) exports in recent years. It was recorded that in 2018 based on data collected from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), palm oil production in Indonesia reached 40.5 million tonnes. With such great potential, several European countries are listed as the main suppliers of CPO imports from Indonesia. These countries include England, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Austria and Turkey. This group of countries continuously supplies the world with crude palm oil, including palm oil production from Indonesia in recent years.
The existence of European Union restrictions regarding exports of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) means that CPO export producing countries such as Indonesia will experience a setback in the world CPO export market. This research aims to conduct an analysis of the trend in decreasing the quantity of CPO imports in several European countries in the period 2016 – 2019. The results of the research show that most European countries have begun to reduce the amount of CPO imports in the period between 2016 and 2019 in line with the incessant restrictions on CPO imports by the European Union. The UK reduced its CPO import supply from 203 thousand tons in 2017 to 66 thousand tons in 2018. This reduction, if calculated, is 67.52%. Likewise with Germany with a reduction index of 41.01% from 2017 to 2018. The real impact that Indonesia will experience with its status as a giant world producer of CPO exports is that the palm oil market in the country will automatically experience setbacks and excess supply as well as Indonesia will be threatened with losing the world’s CPO export market in the next few years.
